This should be in your pill packet, but here it is. If you start on the first day of your period, you are protected from pregnancy right away. If you are a "sunday start" you are protected from pregnancy a week after you started taking pills and should use a condom or other form of protection during that time.
Most doctors advise taking the pill for a month before having sex without a condom because a lot of girls just starting on HBC forget to take it or take it incorrectly. The three month thing is how long side effects from the pill can last before things even out. I provided a link below to a TON of HBC information that is very useful. If you are still confused on anything the best thing would be to call the prescribing doctor or a pharmacist and ask any questions you still have.

My doctor told me to wait three months for the pill to take effect completely. And then, if you switch pills you have to wait three months again.
And antibiotics cancel out the pill's effects so if you are on them use a back up method!
Also, if you miss pills it can screw it up too, so use a backup method!

You have to wait 1 cycle to be safe. All of the information will be on the paper that came with the pills, it will say in there to use 2 forms of birth control for the first cycle to make sure you don't become pregnant.

Sorry I can't answer that, but didn't you get instructions with your pills, or at least the person who prescribed them should have told you. I am sure though that there are women out there who will tell you.

if you start on the first day of your period you can have sex right away, otherwise you must take it for about 10 days.
