I think it's a great idea.14 year olds are too old to trick or treat but still want to have some fun.
Just decorate it with Halloween items. Most kids your age will not want to dress up in a costume though so maybe on your invitations
say casual dress or costumes welcome.Hope you have a wonderful birthday no matter what you decide!

Hi basketballplayer

I think its a great idea to have a Halloween party - I love having parties, especially at this time of year.

A friend asked me the exact same question, and here is the answer I gave. I hope it helps you and gives you some ideas.

Once children reach their teen years they no longer care much for the traditional door to door trick or treating. Instead they are ready to move on to the more adult like celebrations such as a Halloween party. Allowing your teen to participate in a party is a great way to ensure this a happy and safe Halloween for them. It is a great way to keep them occupied and out of trouble. It also allows them to be with their friends and not to be sitting at home moping about what they could be doing. Below is listed some items needed to make a party for teens too old to trick or treat a successful one.

Costumes – Even though teens or too old for trick or treating they still want to celebrate the season by dressing up and being with friends. So of course, this means when you give a party it has to be a costume party. Suggest creativity and originality to make the party even more fun. Therefore, do not forget to let everyone know on the invitations that wearing their best costumes is a must.

Food and beverages – Being a teen party it would be appropriate to serve chips and sandwiches for the food. Although throwing in a pumpkin pie or cake is also a good idea. Most teenagers do not really care much for a big fancy dinner at their parties. However, it is very important to make sure that you have a variety of beverages that is age appropriate. Whatever type of food you decide on you still want to keep everything Halloween themed. You can do this by using plates, cups napkins and other accessories that are designed for Halloween.

Decorations – Decorations is a must for a teen Halloween party. They need to be as scary and entertaining as possible. So go all out and let your imagination run wild for a night. Don’t forget to add lots of spooky and funny music for your guest to enjoy. Another very important aspect to a Halloween party for teens is the adult supervision. Make sure there are enough adults to keep everyone safe and happy on this very special holiday.

Have a great birthday
Nicola

Pick a theme and decorate, dress up, and provide food (or your cake) to that theme! You can even watch movies to the same theme.

My husband and I have a party every year. (We've been doing this since we first started college in 2003.) The second year we did it, our theme was "Zombie Nights," as we dressed up like zombies. We watched "Army of Darkness," "Night of the Living Dead" and the South Park Episode "Pink Eye." We hung up black and purple streamers, balloons, lots of spider webs, and other Halloween decorations. I also made a piñata that looked like Kenny from South Park that we broke.

That theme may be a little gross for you, and I don't know what your parents views are on scary movies, but try and pick a theme that both boys and girls will like. On your invitations, request that everyone dresses up to the theme and take lots of photographs. You can make a fun scrap book later.

Possible ideas:
Pirates: watch "Pirates of the Caribbean," and costumes will be easy. If you're into the Flying Spaghetti Monster, serve pasta. You cake can be frosted to look like a pirate flag.
Renaissance: dress up like princesses, knights, gypsies, and so forth. Watch "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," decorate your home to look like an old castle or the outdoors. Have a cake in the shape of the grail.
Ancient Greece: Togas for costumes, which is very easy. Serve grapes, grape juice, and Greek food. If you're into Mystery Science Theatre 3000, watch "Hercules Unchained." Listen to Greek music and dance.

Well I used to have halloween parties and this is what I would do. I would get alot of halloween decorations and crap and decortare the hosue. Its up to you how you want to do it.

I have alot of good recipeids too.

Here they are:

"Frankenstien Toes" mua ha ha ha ha

Basically you make like pigs in a blanket, those little hotdog thins wrapped in the dough, then you use food coloring and make the dough green and put a quarter of an olive at the end (black) so it looks like a toe!!!

Then if you by serbert and mixit up until its liquidy and put in in a cauldron that you get at a party store and put dry ice in it the serbert will steam!!!

So anyways you decorate your house and then if you can find a haunted house near where you live you talke everyone to it. then come bak to your hosue and watch a scary movie!!

I always had fun at thouse parties. And you can invite boys its not like theyre gonna be bad if your parents are home.

Have fun!!

great idea... make it a costume party... don't do it halloween night--- do it the night before... you still wanna go trick or treating don't you? You can have a best costume contest and have candy and everything... of course you decorate... you could be an angel or a princess... or whatever you want.... and your parents should be okay with it... you'd have to ask them about the boys, too, though. Good Luck and Have a happy birthday!

I think that would be fun. You could be a princess since its going to be you bday party. Maybe your parents would let you have a bonfire outside with the boys there and your parents could stay outside with you. Also, a good idea for punch is to put lime sherbert in 7-up. It's so good and frothy. We make it for almost every b-day or holiday party. And it matches the Halloween theme.

You could go with a Harry Potter party theme. BuyCostumes.com offers a wide range of party supplies by theme, and with some creativity you could have games and prizes: buy some small items like wands, wizard capes, harry potter accessories...

Here are some other theme ideas: Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men/Super Heroes, Horror...

In any case, you can find many different & inexpensive party theme supplies online.

i had a halloween party when i was about your age, we had a bonfire in the driveway and a hay ride, i lived in the country, this may not be a possibility for you, but instead of pin the tail on the donkey we pinned the nose on the jack o lantern, bobbed for apples, stuff like that. not to mention gross-out snacks. also, during the hayride my uncle jumped out of the woods with a chainsaw. it was pretty cool.
