Associazione Calcio and it was adopted to differentiate between AC Milan and its city cousins and rivals Internazionale Milan. They actually have the same heritage and Internazionale was formed by a group of Swiss players from AC Milan who were very bored from not being picked ahead of Italian players at AC. Hence Internazionale to mean quite literally ...hey this team is international and anyone can play!! How boring is that little story!?! true though!
