I saw a coconut palm for sale recently. The coconut was on top of the soil in the pot and there was a young palm, about 2ft growing . I suppose you could grow it indoors for a while and then bring it outside for a while. With all the changes in the weather it will probably think it's at home in a few years. Didn't some plants-people plant Pineapples outdoors in England a couple of months ago. Give it a go.

You will need to explain what a "cocanut" tree is. If you mean coconut tree, a tropical climate would be required, therefore I don't see that they could mature in Eire

You can grow coconut trees in Ireland if you can create palm house condtions.Constant hot temprature,humid conditions in a large greenhouse.The seed needs to be fresh.

when you get the time and the inclination . pop over to the uk , AH just thought, Have you got green fingers. if you have . your in luck. WELL in Asda the supermarket they have a new variety of Coconut , its fairly big , very fast growing it will grow Mondays to friday , 9 inches every day , it takes the day off sat, Sunday.People are buying them like billyoh.apparently its benaficial to have them in your bed .any thing else you wanna know.oh and by the way I would do something about those green fingers , I hope its not catching,

It does seem unlikely that they would grow in Ireland but in DUBLIN only, I have seen Cocoanut trees in the downtown area but did not see any in Northern Ireland

In a greenhouse or a protected environment, perhaps. Coconut trees aren't well suited for that region.

Not outside.
I do grow a palm tree even in Donegal, and it's very happy, but it's not a coconut.
