I don't know that they laugh, but I do know my cats have a sense of humor. I have one cat, a female, that lays in wait just around the corner of the bathroom to watch the other cats go in to use the litter box. Then just as the poor cat is about to do their thing, the first cat goes running around the corner, right up to the litter box and hisses in the other cats face...

Of course the attacked cat, goes aerial and take off running and my practical joker just stands there with a satisfied look on her face.

There are numerous instances when I have noticed this type of behavior... I've just never heard a laugh.

I believe animals can express happiness but not in the form of laughter ...
eg ...your pet dog may feel good when you stroke its' neck and it may lie still while enjoying your fingers stroking.
It will never understand when you tell a joke ..so no way you can make it laugh ..
