There is only one definition and it is self explanitory. Stop trying to put a spin on everything.

Support the soldiers or don't. You have the freedom to do either.
We appreciate the support immensely. You don't know how good it makes us feel. even if you don't support the war. There is a difference and I can't speak for all soldiers but I understand your concerns with the war. I do support our President and believe this is a just war.
We are fighting the war America asked us to fight. When America says it's time to come home we will.
I would go with simply "Support the troops." Defined by each person as they see fit.
Remember a soldier is also a civilian too just like you. All have families and many have children. We give up our 'civilian life' so we can do what is asked of us by our country.

Youre thinking too much.
The phrase is just an emotional rally-cry used mostly by people who support the war. Its not meant to be analyzed and really made sense of. Thats also true with the other mindless phrases they use, like "freedom isnt free" and "why do you hate america?".

Support the poor young men and women who are doing their best in a civil war that they should never have been sent to in the first place.

None of the above. These brave young people volunteered to serve, and knew full well that they may be called up to fight, and possibly die for their country. You support them, and support any missions that they volunteered to do.

h. ) It is a way to get everyone to appear that they support a U.S. Military action when all of them don't.
It takes away from the anti-war argument by focusing on the troops who have no control over their actions.

I think it means for us not to talk trash about them while they are over there doing their job to protect the U.S. Good question though.
