I'm sorry, but a death certificate is not a pop quiz with multiple choice answers, nor is it a pizza order form for you to pick and choose what you want on it. Death certificates list the actual cause of death--you don't have a choice in the matter.

There can be an almost infinite amount of Causes. BUT you had best challenge any within 24 hours of it's issuance or it will be a mess to claim and or correct suspected errors!

Differs for each state, but generally: suicide, homicide, natural, unnatural, unknown. some states even have chemical listed.
