each, both and neither

it is a religion in that Judaism is a belief system with ritual and practice, and an underlying philosophy aimed at a connection to the divine and an adherence to divine command, but it is a race in that membership in the system (even without belief!) is passed through a genetic connection -- you cannot choose not to be Jewish if you are born in. However, because Judaism recognizes conversion, the religion cannot be purely racial (you cannot convert to another race). Therefore, it is easiest to say that it is a religion with racial/genetic components.

Is Jewish A Race

Its a difficult question to answer ! I would say the true Jew s are direct are directly linked or came from a long line of Jewish people going way back to before Christ to the house of David I Believe . So in that sense they would be a race I think better even a tribe ! If you were born into being a Jew , I would think you would surely be Jewish or of Jewish decent ! Which would make being Jewish a Race or tribe of People and also a Religion !

Jewish is not a race, there are Jews of many races. The Jewish religion is Judaism. A person descending from followers of Judaism may identify as a Jew/Jewish even if they are an atheist or agnostic because of Jewish culture which developed parallel to but separately from the religion. Jewish culture might include traditional foods, familiarity with the Hebrew or Yiddish languages, gathering around holidays, a style of humor based on shared references, or – as some have good naturedly quipped - a knack for internalizing undeserved guilt….In the Jewish tradition a child is considered Jewish through the mother’s bloodline in a marriage between a Jew and non-Jew.

Jewish is not a race. Anyone who tells you it is has no idea what being a "race" truly means. Being Jewish is religious and a choice, your race however is predetermined before your birth and depends on your DNA and genetics. People who say they are Jewish Atheists are ridiculous. Would you say you are a Christian Atheist? A Muslim Atheist? It s silly and it makes no sense. It s just Jewish people trying to be special. You are either an Atheist or a Jew, not both. Whats next, Vegetarian Atheists?

This is a common question people have. The answer is religion. If your parents are Jewish then that would make you Jewish, not by ethnicity (Not race, there's only one race, the Human Race) but by religion. When you are asked by a doctor or filling out paperwork, you don't put down under "race" Jewish. You put down something else such as Caucasian, Hispanic/Latino etc. In Judaism you are born into it. Sometimes if your parents are Christian or Muslim or etc. If your born Christian, that don't mean that my "race" is Christian, but my beliefs is what your born into, not "race". My conclusion is that Jewish is not a race, but a religious person. It's based on beliefs, not "race".

Jewish and Muslim are not a race. Someone who follows Judaism is Jew, and someone who follows Islam is a Muslim. There is a difference between race and culture. Jews and Muslims have a culture, but that doesn't make it their race. I'm Caucasian, and I could be a Muslim, or I could convert to Judaism. That doesn't mean I'm changing my race, it's means I'm following a religion, and adopting a culture.

As a former Atheist Jew I was accepted as a religious Jew. When I came to know the Jewish Messiah I was told I was no longer a Jew. Modern Judaism only requirement rejecting the Jewish Messih, as Isaiah prophecied he would be in Isaiah 52:13-53 chapters

Born to Jewish mother is Jewish even if you are an atheist and don't believe in the religion at all. It's totally a race and ethnicity by their own Jewish law. Some badly misinformed people on here. Any Jewish Rabbi will tell you this and their own writings and teachings say so too. As well as YNet News, Haaretz, Jerusalem Post and many others.

Its an ethnicity and a religion. I happen to have some of the ethnicity. (Haven't you noticed Jewish people having specific features with each other?!?!?! lol) Judaism is an ethnoreligious religion, which means mostly its own race practices the religion; similar to Rodism to the Russians AKA Rodnovery
