I want to get a laptop, I just need it for basic uses. No video card or anything. The one i was looking at is an Acer Aspire AS3618AWLMi, for around $750. is that a good brand to buy? It also comes with LAN the wifi network card thing.

well, without a video card, you won't be able to see anything on your screen.

sorry... had to get that out of the way...

If your looking for a cheap, easy to use, simple laptop, get one from Dell... call them up, and tell them what you need to use it for.

Just don't say you don't need a video card.... they will laugh at you, just as I am...

Acer has a so-so track record on quality problems. If you only need a bare bones laptop, you should be able to find one for under $599.00 . I have seen some "blow out" prices for $399.95 for the first 15 people into the store. Watch the ads in your Sunday paper. I'd recommend going to a Best Buy, Comp USA, or Circuit City. They all have better brand machines and for less money. Good luck ! :) Personally, I like HP . Even Dell has a starter laptop for about $499.95 . :)

Oh you'll definetly need a VideoCard to see things on your screen!

Even if you're not looking for high capability computers (that are enhanced for a better experience for computer gamers), computers these days are good enough to play simple videos on websites like youtube ( http://www.youtube.com ).

Acer is not a bad brand. I've used it in my office. Not much problems so far.

Dell might be problematic, but it's quite cheap.

IBM is one of the more expensive computers in the market.

But that's just in my country.

If it comes with at least 512 MBytes of RAM and 60GBytes of hard drive - it sounds okay.
