I refuse to be categorized by age.
By the time most of my ancestors were my age, they were dead. Or just lived like they were.
On the other hand, you will never see me trying to dress like Paris Hilton and hang out with my daughter and her friends. They would want me to die a *lot* younger, and I wouldn't blame them.
I will be 47 in October. I intend to have all the fun I'm entitled to at any age.
I think a lot of this "new 30" stuff has to do with people waiting until they are 35 to get married and even later to have kids. By the time our parents were 45, they were helping us find colleges, not slogging around with diaper bags and Weebles and comparing preschools.
Now I have 40+ friends trying to figure out why they can't get pregnant. (It's called biology, but a lot of people my age must have been absent from class that day. Really, I wish they'd quit. Adoption is the answer -- there are enough kids who need homes and families, and no need to make more just so you can say they're "yours". )
I had my kids in my early 20's and now, having fulfilled that responsibility, I'm ready to live my own life. I think I made a good decision, doing it in that order. My kids had a mother with energy to keep up with them when they were little, and now if I stay healthy, I have plenty of good years left. So in that regard, 45 is the new 35, I guess.
But cling to youth? Listen, I wouldn't be 21 again for anything. Been there, done that, got the torn-up Rolling Stones t-shirt to prove it. heh.

Never heard this one. But, learn something everyday. Sounds cool. We are as young as we feel. Sad the younger generation seems too afraid to get old, that life, we all have to face that fact. But, those 40 and over have learned to live life. Many children are already dead and mock the elderly. Sad, very sad, because they mock their own Destiny. Someone ask the question on here (probably a young girl) if women over forty are still sexy. My answer was yes because they still keep a young attitude and many are very attractive women. Heck, many of the young generation are couch potatoes. Guy sit and play their ride the motorcycle computer game and talk how good they are. Ha! What a fuc*k joke. Those over forty rode REAL motorcycles when they were young, played the real man's game. But, that my opinion. But, I like that saying, it is cool, just never heard it. People should expand on it though. 40 is the new 20 and the real 20 live like they 80. Sad, very sad, so much life to live and not know how to do it.
Guess I should add, being 40 and living 20 is NOT hanging with 20 year olds. Music different, clothes, heck, even what we drink, I still a Scotch on the rocks kind of guy. Aquired that when I WAS 20!!! Heeee! Heeee!

Its TRUE...and no, over 40's didn't make this up.It is obvious that you are younger then 40- so wait till you get there..of course there is exceptions to the rule and you might be 20 now but look 40! Is that what your worried about? If you want to know how you will look at 40 - take a good look at your mother - you have her DNA and will develop physically just like her!Good Luck.By the way - I am 65 and NO ONE believes I am even 50! I am constantly asked for my ID when applying for Senior benefits..go figure that out! Once again - it's in YOUR DNA! Check the www.mayoclinic and then go to the section for "genetics".. find out for yourself...

How confusing.
65 is the new 40, 3 is the new 2, beige is the new black and now 40 is the new 20?
I'm almost 36 and I'm so much older than 20 it isn't funny. But I know a lot of people my age who are at the looking-for-Mr/Ms Right or the deciding-whether-or-not-to-have-kids stage that you might be right.

If you are 40, and try mixing with a group of 20 year olds .. you will stick out like a sore thumb. Sorry, but 40 = 40.

i think the familiar public of them are worse. I blame this on society, because of the fact in the present day maximum dad and mom are afraid to self-discipline their little ones for worry of dropping them or ending up in penitentiary. there are lots of little ones in the present day who're graduating from intense college who can no longer examine previous the 4th grade, nor do any form of particularly math different than addition and subtraction. how lots of you have observed how badly they spell at right here even nonetheless there's a verify Spelling field? a number of their questions do no longer even make experience. There are older human beings accessible too who're in simple terms as undesirable and how they have been given the roles they have I haven't any thought. My sons g/f's mom is an accountant, and he or she could no longer try this undertaking: 6 + 4(6 -3) - 9 =. She got here up with 4. I went to adventure Land, and that i'm disabled. I sent my son to get me an electric powered scooter. We have been there while they opened. They have been all long handed by the time we've been given for the duration of the line. I observed as my son pushed me in a wheelchair, youthful childrens using the electrical powered scooters, childrens who in simple terms did no longer elect to stroll. they might experience as much as a experience, get off and experience the experience. The scooter became into finished of their issues too. I blame the park, yet then the youngsters would have lied and mentioned it became into for a grandparent or disabled make certain. yet i think of protection would have taken them away while they observed the youngsters using them.

Who wants to cling to youth? I mean you must be young, else your question wouldn't sound so immature. People who are in their forties were the ones who made things happen and are still making things happen. Look at all the technological development that you are enjoying today. Who do you think invented cell phones and video games and lattes and tanning beds? Today's 20 year olds are basking in the glorious contributions made by us 40-somethings. What have you contributed?

It's a conspiracy. We made it up just to make the twenties feel inadequate. Basically, 40 is the new 20 because you still have your health and you are still relatively young but at 40 you have what you didn't have at 20: MONEY!
Having turned the corner into my 40's this year, I am looking forward to a decade of having fun in the lap of luxury!
By the way...we're gen Xers NOT baby boomers...our parents are baby boomers.

People are living healthier lifestyles these days. We have a lot of new technology that cures more diseases. People are living much longer than we used to. PLUS we are figuring out that "age" is just a number, that attitude makes up 80 percent of how we feel about ourselves and how we act. With all of that combined....yes, I guess 40 would be the "new" 20.
