Sexual preference has nothing to do with masculinity. It is an individual trait that varies from one man to the next. For instance, Rock Hudson was gay, yet Tony Randall was not. In Contrast, compare John Wayne to Liberace and, well, you get the idea ;-)

Well, they should not be. Manly can take on several meanings, and in this day and age, a gentle man is not a man. Yet, 50 years ago, a gentleman was what women were looking for. Theere is a social malaise about the definition of what a man or a woman ought to do. Just be yourself, and you will feel all the man and woman in you as intended.
The other thing is that enjoying anal touching is not a "gay thing"...because being gay has nothing to do with sex, just like being straight does not mean that you're going to jump every skirt that flies by. The anus is a site of huge receptiveness for the body, and enjoying anal contact does not make you gay. It makes you human. Seeking male companionship does not make you gay. Hugging guys does not make you gay if you're a guy (case in point, butch ball players who cry and embrace themselves on the field). Not wanting sex with woman, but enjoying sex with another man may qualify you as being gay.
In today's society, you are regarded as gay, and then that is all people see. But if that is the case, then they don't see you. We label people for our own safety, not theirs. We like to point at something and call it by a name that makes us feel more comfortable. When all is said and done, does it really?
Also, another little comment about "bears" here...acting as if they don't "want to take abuse from anyone". I don't like the way that is worded. Does that mean that if you're gay you should expect abuse from someone? Being gay, and being effeminate are also two distinct problems not to be handled the same.

I'm trying to answer your question without getting angry. Being "manly" has nothing to do with being gay or straight. You have straight men who are effeminate and gay men who are meaner than junkyard dogs. It all depends on a person's perception. I don't know where you get your information from, but maybe you need to open your mind up a bit. And what's the deal with you and 10 year old boys?!

I don't know a full answer for you, but gay guys do act more girly than regularly guys. Although theoretically I would say a man who likes men is more manly. Since there are gay mean who are as tough as nails with a bully personality

Our society, right or wrong, likes men to be with women. That is the yardstick on which we measure manliness when it comes to matters of sexuality. Men who like men are not perceived by the bulk of our homophobic population as manly. And by the way, liking anal sex is the very definition of gay.

Kinda depends on your definition of "manliness," doesn't it?
Generally, no, neither side is more manly than the other, at least not as a result of sexual orientation.

I would say in general, no. However, I've found that some gay men become almost hyper-masculine as if they are attempting to assert their masculinity in a world that looks down upon gay people, especially gay men. "Bears" or bearish men often come across like this at first. They have a definite attitude of sorts that gives people the idea that they will not take abuse from anyone.

Straight men have a rough road to hoe...they are cast into tiny little boxes of behavior with little freedom to express themselves. Then, they are pumped full of homophobia for no reason other than to "insure" they will not "choose" to be Gay. All of this is nonsense, and is found only in the US. Considering what these guys are spoon fed from infancy, I am very glad I am not one of them...and I certainly do not want to be one of them. I find Straight men to be far more unhappy in life than Gay men...and it is obvious why they are unhappy.

Yes you can still be manly, it doesn't have anything to do with your sexual orientation.
