Actually powered milk is just milk that has had the liquid evaporated. It is fine to give your kids. It does taste differently. I only use it to cook with. But, because of the fat content in whole powdered milk, it's shelf life is limited. It's life span is only 6 to 9 months in 75 degree F temperatures. After this the fats start going rancid. While on the other hand, non-fat powdered milk will store for two years under the same conditions.

It is cheaper per serving that regular milk. Check the nutritional info against a gallon of whole milk to see how it compares. If it is the same it is safe to use the powdered milk. The lady that had the 7 babies used to mix powdered milk with regular milk to make it stretch further

If you're sure it's powdered WHOLE milk and it has the same vitamin/mineral content, II don't see that it makes any difference. Powdered milk used to be cheaper than its fresh counterpart but it doesn't seem to be anymore. My mom used to make instant milk and mix it half and half with regular milk to save money but it's not practical anymore.

I think powered milk looses some of it's nutrients and vitamins, l would prefer to give my children fresh cows milk for all the goodness it contains, but it would be ok occasionally.

All milk we drink, whether fresh or dried, is fortified since the nutrients are destroyed in the pasteurization process. I would say the closer to the real thing the better. Fresh.
