PC2100 and PC2700 are basically the same it's just that the PC2700 is capable of running at a higher speed. Just because it's capable of running faster doesn't mean it HAS to run faster.

From what I have seen in my experience of building PCs, the PC2700 DDR will typically be compatible with your PC2100 motherboard, but run at the slower speed. If you know the manufacturer and model of your motherboard or PC, you can use Crucial's Memory Advisor to list the compatible memory sticks:

Yes it will work but the memory will act like PC2100

PC2700 is actually PC2100 DDR SDRAM that easily and stably OC's to 2700 (or 333 MHz).

Yes and no, some motherboards will not accept the key configuration, but if it does work you will only get the bus speed that the board supports, will also drop the performance of any other ram installed.

NO!!!

NEVER MIX RAM!!!

If your board say's PC2100, only put PC2100 in... if you put PC2700 in, you'll get the magic smoke.*

*magic smoke is bad, trust me, I've got it a few times, and had to replace every last piece of hardware

yes it will work just fine, it will just run at the 2100 speed, the good thing is you wont be taxing it to much so you wont have as much heat in your system ether.
