Good for you for helping, that's wonderful.
Everyone needs help, support, friendship and compassion more than they need pity. It's great that you can set your compassion in motion instead of idly standing by and just plain feeling bad. There needs to be more people in the world like you.
( Just remember that it's not only the elderly who need you. )
Take care.

I feel badly for anyone that I see struggling like this. Especially elderly people who are alone and have no one to help them. I do have quite a few older neighbors, and I try to offer to help them when I can and have picked up groceries and other items for them on occasion. A lot of people are embarrassed to ask for or accept help. A couple of the other respondents mentioned people not being nice or hitting them, and that can be difficult. Some older people are scared of getting hurt or taken advantage of, and can you really blame them with all that is going on in the world? Some people are also fighting their age and health for that last little bit of independence; and don't want to give that up. Thanks to all who try to help, even to offer is important just as a fellow human being. If you do get turned down, or yelled at try not to take it personally. Thanks for being a caring person and have a good day!

Yeah I have a soft spot for elderly, partly because I grew up without the love of grandparents from both my moms and dads side, so whenever I see Elderly people struggling with shopping or anything for that matter, I do usually try and ask and see whether they need any assistance. One time I asked and they were ever so appreciative, offered me money, but I refused and said its my duty, the elderly woman had tears in her eyes.

I help an elderly neighbour weed his garden.
I was walking past watching him struggling.
I couldn't just ignore his plight, I had time on my hands & wanted 2 help.
Now when I walk past I always pull the weeds where I can reach them & he can't.
His gratitude is enough & is why I do it.
:)

I do get very upset over that too. It really bothers me a lot to see a person in a wheelchair having problems too.

Sure. It's hard for them, and I agree help your fellow man when you can. Elderly and children especially, but all of us needs a hand every now and again.

well yeah if they are struggeling for sure i'd help them but if they arn't then im not going to help just coz they are old they don't need the world to stop for them..and alot of old people expect that they think that world owes them something because they are old. I don't want to help someone that doesn't need the help..

I think so too.I mean it feels like you can't help them and they're so helpless and alone.Alot feel this way few will get up to help them.Actually I tried to help one person but she was pretty rude to me so I stopped helping.

It is good of you to help...anyone.
No need to feel bad for the elderly in particular.
