absolutely! I'm so tired of the people who claim it has to do with our environment growing up, or "influences" of some sort. Or, those who claim that abuse/rape/molestation can determine that.
well, in my case, and in pretty much the case of every single gay/lesbian that I know, that's a load of crap!
I had straight parents, never knew anyone gay growing up, and didn't until long after I realized I was lesbian. I was not raped/molested or abused. and a lot of people who I've met who have been are still straight. nothing "influenced" my sexuality. I've always known I was. I made no "choice" to be lesbian. I know quite a few people, my partner included, who suppressed their feelings, experienced confusion, and lived in denial for a while...and even got married (because they were "expected" to), and some even had kids before they realized they just couldn't live the lie anymore. and there are those who would say those people "turned" gay. no, they didn't, they just quit denying who they were later in life and decided to be who they truly were instead of what family/society decided they should be.

Yes, but I think that genetics (or the other biological component in all of this, hormones and the fetus), is also affected by social factors. In other words, there is an INTERACTION going on between biology + social factors in sexual orientation development -- it is not biology alone. That's what a lot of people, including a lot of gay people, have been programmed to accept, but it's not necessarily true.

And once again, ALL orientations are the end result of biology + social factors, not just homosexuality. Heterosexuality and bisexuality are also probably affected by both biological and social forces interacting with one another.

In addition, some say that bisexuality is the initial, default orientation, and that homosexuality and heterosexuality are learned.

If a women has many sons that the younger ones are more prone to being gay because the women's body tries to change the XX into XY. The XX chromosome is foreign to the female body and her body tries to change it, after about 2 males.

I think that being gay is genetic, but can be the environment too. Sexuality is a matter of preference; we can't choose who we like.

Yes its all genetics.

Here's exactly what happens. When your a fetis inside your mom's tummy and you are developing there are many times where certain hormones play a big part. Now if during those times something as little as a fight between your parents can mix up those hormones and then many possiblities can occur.
1. You become gay (Guys only)
2. You become lesbian (Girls only)
3. You become either MTF or FTM Transsexual.
4. You may be lucky and nothing happens.

Certain hormones do different things. For the transsexual their brain is wired different than what their body is (MTF = Female brain wiring in a male body and FTM = Male brain wiring in a female body) For Gays and Lesbians I don't know exactly how that occurs but it is basically the same way as the transsexual.

Its probably an interaction between biology and psychology. A particular gene might not automatically make someone gay, but could increase their chances of being so. Sexuality is very complex, especially when you consider that different things turn people on. The existence of bisexuality eliminates the concept of a two-way gene switch i.e. gay/straight, and further suggests the interaction of many different variables.

I definitely believe so. I do not believe that we have a choice in the matter of our sexual orientation. But why wouldn't you want to be gay. It's awsome!

I do not really have scientific reasons like everyone else has, but I have a "hypothesis" you would call it.

Everyone. Gay lesbian, transgendered, whatever. We all go through hard times somewhere in life due to our sexual orientation. If it were a matter of choice to eithe rbe a hetero or homo. We would just plop out of homosexuality to become a hetero with all this negative hate crimes towards gays.

Get what I'm saying?

Gays are gay because we are. We do not choose to walk through fire (Hate crimes towards gays) we are forced to because that's who we are. And be proud!

ABSOLUTELY !! The ignorance behind this theory has finally surfaced. It went from a disease to now genetics. They are saying its a hormone released into the blodstream by the mother during pregnancy into the new born.

If it wasn't why are scientist spending billions of your dollars to try to destroy the gene which has made us the way we are.

Watch out, next they will start attacking the blue eye gene !

You decide !

No I do not think that being gay is genetic. For those that say that they have felt that way for along time it is so widely in the news that I am sure that aids in these feelings. God created us all and when people would not listen He gave them over to reprobate minds to do the unthinkable man with man and wo,man with woman. Read 1Corinthians 6:9-19.

There is some evidence that it might be, but in the end it really doesn't matter.

Human sexuality is exteremely complex. I suspect that ALL human sexuality (gay, bi or straight) is a combination of nature and nurture.
