To name the differences:
1. a male, I'm female
2. I'm 18 yrs older
3. I'm American; he's Thai
4. I'm a dedicated follwer of Jesus Christ; he's a Buddhist/Animist
5. I'm an "educated" class; he's a migrant worker
6. I speak English and am learning Thai (he is my #1 helper) and he speaks no English

We are both married and have children
the relationship is pure and has no sexual intent from either (as far as i know)

It makes life interesting & opposites do attract even as friends, You probably both are attracted to the inner qualities of each other. Good friends are hard to come by feel blessed to have such a treasure in your life.

People come from many walks of life. It's interesting to get to know them and become friends.

maybe it is the differences that are drawing you to be friends. The wanting to learn more about each other and other cultures.
