I think that it may be a good thing for him because IMO, he hasn't been focused this season. I think that he may have become overconfident and thought that he was a shoe-in for making the Chase. Not making the Chase is going to open Tony's eyes and make him realize the mistakes that he and his team made and how to correct them. Look at Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon...they missed the Chase last year and they rebounded and came back stronger!!
As for his post race comments, Tony handled that like a pro. I know that a lot of people were waiting for him to explode but he didn't. I know that a lot of the Tony Stewart dislikers were disappointed because Tony didn't curse, yell, etc and were wanting another excuse to bash Tony. Tony said what he wanted to say and has moved on. Since he didn't make the Chase he doesn't have all of that pressure on him anymore.
The 10 drivers who did make the Chase better watch out for that Home Depot #20 Chevy because he's gonna be a threat for the wins!!

He acted very professonial when he got out of the car, he gave credit to the other ten drivers, which I thought was very mature of him. I have never been a Tony lover or hater, I do respect him alot more after his comments after last nights race. It is good that he did not make the chase, because he did not preform well enough this season the points prove it.

I love Tony Stewart and was very disappointed that he missed the chase. I thought his post race comments to be very professional and heart felt.

Stewart is not my favorite driver by any means but I wish he had of made the chase. By his comments it seemed to me like he was maybe a little bit dissapointed but he really wasn't heart broke or anything. Jeff Burton and Mark MArtin did make the chase though and I give them a big "WAY TO GO BOYS". Go win one for the Cat In The Hat, Mark!!

I like Stewart. He is a real racer and drives in many forms of racing just for the love of the sport. He sometimes gets a little road rage thing going but is getting better at controlling his emotions. As for how he acted I think like a man.

I'm not really happy but it is what it is. I'm glad he handled it as well as he did. The only disappointing thing about the Chase besides Tony not being there is that one of the twerp Busch brothers, Kyle, is in...but maybe the #5 has wised up some..I'd love to see Matt Kenseth get his second championship.

personally dont like tony stewart. i was glad that he didnt make the chase. however, i thought that he was very cordial after the race to the interviewers which totally caught me off guard. we were taking bets as to whether or not he was even going to be available for an interview.

BAD BAD BAD That he didn't make it - he's one of the most popular, talented driver's around - even Mark Martin called him after the race "one of the most talented drivers of the modern era". He should be in it - how about a past champion provisional?
I saw his comments right after he climbed out of the car - I thought he handled it very well - especially compared to how he used to act!

Bad for him, better for those who are in. He is one of five in the top11 that could really put a strong run together. We will see if he can hold his million dollar bonus for being the first car out. I think the 6,31,17,11, 8 really have their work cut out for them. All long-shots in the end.
