No, of course he didn't. So why do so many Christians treat the Bible, especially verses on homosexuality, as if they came directly from his mouth? If I'm wrong, and you do know of any passages in which Jesus refers to gays directly, could you point them out to me?

People, read the details. I am not asking if Jesus literally wrote the Bible. I'm asking why so many people think he did. My God.

The last time I checked, Buddhism was about the teachings of Buddha, and Christianity was about the teachings of Jesus, not some ecumenical council bent on overthrowing the Roman Empire.

banana_republican_43605,
Here's the thing. Jesus used the Spetuagint. And He quoted verses that were recorded in the Septuagint. If He had any problem with the Septuagint, He didn't say anything about it. He expressed problems with the trations of the elders, and He expressed problems with the Talmud, but not the Septuagint.
From this display of quotations by Jesus the Christ, we can pretty much surmise that the Septuagint was scripture according to the Word of God.
He's the thing about the Bible and homosexuality; It is condemned as are all sins. Every single damn sin that man can produce is condemned. So looking at women and lusting after them, is as bad as lusting after men, whoever you are and no matter how righteous someone thinks he is, we are all condemned to suffer.
HOWEVER, there is a covering atonement that Jesus did. He supplied our way out of the Wrath of God. So the fundie twisting scripture might even be covered, as the homosexual is even going to bed 5 at a time. It's about faith. And that translates into trust. If you trust in God to deliever you from your sins in Jesus name, and confess to Him the Resurrection, you will be saved. It's the same for the Pope, it's the same for me.
So I am saying that the fundie message is errant, and they might listen to themselves a little too much, and grieve the Holy Spirit, and find themselves in Hell for what they are doing to a message that is supposed to be one of Love, Grace, Peace, Hope, Kindness, Longsuffering, and Faith. It's the Gospel Truth.

Ok, people wrote the bible. Although much of it is inspired by God and Jesus and other important figures, it was still writen by man. They were able to make stuff up and basically make things how they want. In addition to that words and phrases can be transtlated a number of ways.
i couldn't find the site I wanted but these two do pertain to the issue

the Bible was written by man, and has been translated, and re-translated over and over through the years. unfortunately, because of so many translations, some people have "re-translated" to suit their own purposes. those people are not "real" Christians. preaching hatred and intolerance is not a family nor a Christian value. God created and loves us all (and He makes no mistakes), and if He didn't create homosexuals, there wouldn't be any!
real Christians are loving and accepting. real Christians do not assume the role of God and pass judgment on others!

Every word of the Bible is God breathed. It was written by man that God chose to keep it accurate. As far as the verses that talk of gays and what will happen to them there are a few. 1 Corinthians 6:9-19 tells you exactly how it is along with many other sins that have not been asked for forgiveness for. The last chapter of Revelation is a good one as well. Red carefully and with an openmind. Remember that God loves you and wants you to repent.

I think these Christians are referring to the Holy Scriptures (your OT). It says that a man should not lie with another man as he does with a woman. However! You know Christians---they distort things to go their way.
I believe a person's sexual orientation is no business of anyone else, as it is genetic thing-he/she has no choice over it.
I can think of one baby who, from day one was more of a boy than a girl. We were saying-with no malice-that she was gay. By the time she was 5 years old, you could tell this. Her parents never tried to change her. They let her be what she was. So, she is now grown and is gay. So what?

My belief is that some random person in the distant past just wrote a book like this and either someone was retarded enough to believe it (and then make it a religion) or the guy turned it into a religion.

Too many christians consider the trinity valid.
Me, Jesus, god are seperate beings.... though part of the same team (trinity)..
GOD created all in the beginnning, not Jesus.
Jesus died for our sins, not god.
Problem is too many will assign what jesus does or say to god and visaversa.... part of the misinterpreting they do.

Jesus did not write the bible. It was his disciples tried to recollect his teachings and put in words.

No there where 66 book......Over half which were written before his birth....He wrote none....How could he write about his own birth? And thats a strange argument..I have gay friends and relatives so I don't descriminate, but that doesn't mean it has to dictate my life...I believe if we were meant to be gay everyone would have penises and buttoholes wouldn't be used to potty...or everyone would have...(girly parts) and it would no longer be called a forefinger...... We are made like puzzle pieces...and we should fit that way...at least I will everyone else in the world may do as they please...but as for me I do what should be obvious.... Plus when the puzzle pieces come together its actually quite fun
