I would start looking for an apartment if I was you. You will probably only need it for 8 weeks. Long enough for a new license to be mailed to your new residence.
If you are getting a new apartment, you will probably also need employment.
No, first get a new job, then the apartment.
Wait, do you have any other forms of ID on you. Maybe that might work. I would file a report with the local sheriff's office about the lost license. Have this report on you when you are talking to the airport people.
If the info above does not work, maybe you can take the bus. They have more relaxed rules.
Last resort have a fake license made..

In order to fly domestically you need to have a government issued photo ID. I have seen people try to use all kinds of ID such as credit cards with photos on them, wholsale club (ie Costco, Sam's Club) membership cards, etc. etc. I am a flight attendant, not a ticket counter agent, but I do know that the TSA, not the Airline, makes the final determination as to who gets past the security checkpoint and who does not. There is a good lesson to be learned here. I have always encouraged travelers, even if they never plan to go abroad, to get a passport and to keep it in a safe place apart from your driver's license and credit cards. That way if something happens to your wallet/handbag you can at least have sufficient documentation to travel. In your case, since there doen't appear to be time to replace your D.L. and it seems you do not have any other form of positive I.D. all you can do is go to the airport and hope for the best. Remember, the threat level is elevated now and things are a lot stricter even for domestic travel. If you are denied boarding, do not under any circumstances get angry or cause a scene as it will only make the situation worse. You can always arrange alternate transportation home and, depending on the restrictions of your fare, use your airline ticket in the future. Greyhound does not require photo I.D. Amtrak only requires photo I.D. if you check bags HOWEVER you may be subject to a random check on the train. Good luck.

Amanda, the former airline ticket agent, is correct. I fly pretty much every week and I finally found myself in a situation where I didn't have a photo ID with me. I was pretty surprised when the airline agent told me that I could still fly, I'd just get marked for the "extra" security screening. So it took a few extra minutes, but it wasn't a big deal. And this happened to me just a couple of weeks ago.

Call the specific airline you are flying and ask them what they suggest you do. You might need someone to get another form of ID and send it to you, like a passport, social security card, etc. Each airlines and each airport could probably suggest different things. You could go to the airport early that day and ask, but calling ahead will have you prepared.

You will need another form of ID maybe even 2 depending on the airline. They will have you go through extra security and they will mark your boarding pass, so you will have to make sure you are at the airport a little earlier. It happens alot. You will still be able to fly.

Your state's motor vehicle website may actually issue you a temporary paper ID with your picture on it, Massachusetts does this. I don't know what people are talking about, but I always need to show my ID and ticket when first entering the security line.

You don't need a driver's license to fly home. If you did, then I guess everyone under the age of 16 couldn't fly, and everyone who couldn't drive couldn't fly. Get real.

Go to the airport or even call your airline and tell them what happened and see what other forms of ID you may be able to use.
