Why should religion be the basis of reservation and why is it part of the Indian Constituttion?

Indian constitution was made keeping in mind that the country will be same for all its citizens. So, those who have suffered humiliation for hundreds of years those have to be lifted in society. And thus reservation started. First it was for 10 years. And it was decided that when the backward casts will be socially lifted reservation will be stopped. But politicians made this a good tool to confirm their vote bank. Why will they stop it now.

Personally I think this idea is wrong. To develop backward casts it should be done by providing education not by providing jobs to some one who is not eligible for it. If a person gets respect in the society in modern days, he gets it by his character, behaviour and education. The govt should hunt talents from the backward casts to nourish them which will serve the country and the backward casts too.
But the process will take some time, about one generation, to yield any result. Politicians want quick result so that the people who get the benefit can vote in favour of them. So, ...........

I am not a specialist in Indian Constitution. But I don't know that it says to reserve jobs on the basis of religion. Are you sure? There is no relation of backward classes with religion. I can not understand. But can't say anything about politicians, they can do anything for their benefit.

It should not be based on the religion but when we dig the past india, indians were saperated by caste based on what work/job they are doing. Based on that, they were given a place in society.After Independence, they gave more prefferences to those people who were not respected in the society.This how it started. My suggestion is that, now they have to clear all these reservations for religions caste and creed and do it in a straighet way based on the marks and knowledge.This has to be erradicated from our constitution.Hope u understood why this is a part of our constitution.

india before 200 years approximately was independant and many small and big states ruled by multiple kings and emperors, who have followed various religions and caste systems like saivite, vaishnavite, kshathriyas,rajputs, vanniyas, paraiahs,irulas,sudhras and brahmanas and further multiples similar to the other, various religions were also thriving like hinduism,islam,budhism, jainism.,etc.
the different states were ruled by different kings who in his particular territory fixed the caste system in terms of the works performed by a particular family in the society for eg.,who perform puja to the gods as brahmins,who fight for the country kshatriyas-rajputs,who do the craft of shaving to the society as barbers-navidhas, who do business -marwaris, who follow allah-musalman,who follow lord budha-budhist,who follow mahavira-jainist, etc.
so people were differentiated by their occupation and religion and waylaid taxes which the ruler preferred they were capable to them based on their economies.
when there were waRS BETWEEN NEIGHBOURS THEIR ARMIES FOUGHT EACH OTYHER AND THE WINNER LAID THE TAX ON THE LOSER AND LATER ADOPTED LOSERS PEOPLE ALSO AS HIS OIWN KITH AND KIN AND ALLOWED THE STATE ALL ESSENTIAL FREEDOM EXCEPT FOR SEVERAL KINGS LIKE AURANGAZEEB WHO WANTED TO MAKE ALL HIS CITIZENS FOLLOW ISLAM IF NOT CRUEL PUNISHMENTS WERE COMMITED TO THEM.,
so india was divided into many parts -not only territory wise but also religion and caste wise.this made us easy preys for englishmen who came to do trading in the country. during their entry itself they measured the wealth of the prosperous country and its peoples divisions and their rulers pshychology.
then gandhiji and various other individuals arose to the occasion and got us our freedom from britishers.
after getting a free india the eminent freedom fighter sardar vallabhai patel got to unite the various parts of the country to constuct baratham(unified india) ,since he realised the danger posed by a lot of individual kings and emperors ruling their territory and fighting among themselves will lead to another trajedy of slavery.
the country became one but people were different ,especially the outcastes like paraiahs,irulas(tamilnadu),similarly known by different names in other states have been maintained as a lower status citizen as an african was considered in usa in 18/19th century and in uk till 1970's and by several racists even today in uk.so the countries political heads wanted to legalise the cause oif hgumanity towards the lower class people and brought in reservation system in education and jobs for backward castes and backward tribes.that was thew reason of reservations to uplift the backward class people to help them make a living equivalent to the other communities to who their fathers,forefathers anbd great old ancestors were swerving for centuries together.
even now there are backward class people who are not getting treated humanly by common people in several villagers in remotew parts of tamilnadu.
the reservation policy has stayed in place for almost 409 years in both education and job in our government.
but now2 there is a growing tension among several grades of people in different walks of life about the usefullness of reservation nin both education and job.
are the governments policies on the above reaching the deserving people, through and through ,a brief justiofication is to be given on the above.only 20/30% of the people from real backward classes has come to make use of the benefits meted byu the government.many goondas and misrepresenting people got fake caste certificates and have made their way up- in the society. but anyway the people who come up are again in their position as government servants are corrupt and greedy and made way to moneymaking deeds.people with merit were having a tough time to get even ordinary government jobs and consider themselvesa unlucky since they were from forward castes, that was the situation 2 decades back in the country.
so reservation in education should continue but in jobs should not deserve any place, since we are not sure whether the right person is getting the justice, also since the meritorious are preferring to go out of our country and we faced heavy braindrain which was hot topic in the 1980's.
so now the politicians should decide properly. just for getting the vote of a particular caste they should not give reservation to that caste. but that is the ideology of the politicians ,so reservation is inverting the citizens good tolerant nature and making themn leave this country.
so highest authoritative court with a commission of juries should seriously ponder over the issue of reservation policy, whether it should continue for people from several castes till their death.
in otherwords it is putting another freedom struggle for the meritorious in the couintry.
