Connect the printer to the ME computer. (It is easier for the XP computer to SEE the ME computer).
Install the printer driver and then go into the Printer PROPERTIES. Click on the SHARING TAB and set it to allow sharing.
Both computers should have a UNIQUE name, but the same WORKGROUP. For XP, right click on MY COMPUTER, then go to the Network Identification section. For ME, right click on Network Neighborhood and pick PROPERTIES, look for the Network name and computer name there.
Open the My Network Places on your XP computer. Open ENTIRE NETWORK and show ENTIRE CONTENTS. Open the Microsoft Windows Network, then open your Workgroup that you see. At this point, you should see the Windows ME computer. Troubleshoot your network if you don't see it.
Then go to the XP computer and get into the Printer section of the Control panel. ADD printer and pick Network Printer. Look for that Windows ME computer and pick that printer. You might need the printer disk, since you have ME drivers on the ME computer.
Good luck

First the two computers must be networked and File and Printer Sharing turned on in the windows ME Computer.
I have my printer installed on the Windows XP machine and am printing to it with my Windows 98 Machine (very similar to ME). On the windows 98 machine you will need to add a new printer and point it across the network to your windows XP machine and the printer which should be visible on the network.
You may need to share the printer on the XP machine if this was not done automatically.

PC with XP

2. then click the create a network connection
3. fill up the other options I know you can understand what it says
4.then after that it would restart
5. after restarting click again the network neighborhood then properties

Make sure both computers are seeing each other on the network. They need to have the same workgroup name but different computer names. Once they "see" each other (should appear in my network places on the xp computer) then you can go to the printer folder on the computer with the connected printer. Right click on the printers icon and select sharing. Give it a share name when offered.
Go to the other computer and go to its printer folder and select add new printer. Choose network printer as your option. Then browse for the printer and select it.... you may need to install drivers on some printers.

Once both computers are on the same network, install the printer to one comptuer (it doesn't matter which one).
Once it's installed, go to your Printers folder in the Control Panel.
Right click on the printer, and allow it to be shared.
On the second computer, add a new printer, and say it's a networked printer. Your computer will search the network for it, and intsall the nessicary drivers. You can print from either computer, and it will act as the printer is attached to both.
Have fun printing!

You have two choices: you can either connect the printer to one of the computers and use that computer as a print server, or you can buy an external print server, a small box that connects to the printer and allows it to plug into your network.
Either way has its drawbacks. External print servers tend to be expensive. Using the computer as a print server doesn't cost anything, but it's inconvenient - you have to keep the print server computer turned on to be able to print from the other computer.
The best way is to buy a printer with built-in networking. Like most other computer stuff, they've gotten really cheap lately.
