How does the government or other organisations stop possibly sensitive information being released by the media? Because surely if you really wanted your information to be heard, it could get out.

There is a great book on this called, "Propaganda and the Public Mind; Manufacturing Consent". In open Westerns societies the process of "thought control" is very complex but an absolute necessity for those who dominate society; whereas in a totalitarian state you propagandize plenty but it's reinforced with violence. Firstly, no institution is self destructive; why would the corporate owned media systems ever want the population to know anything that actual matters to the population. All of things that matter to the population are off limits to the corporate elite; aka they can't make a profit on it. For example, 80% of the US population wants some form of nationalized health care; obviously thats totally unacceptable to profit driven corporations. Most of the US population believes that University education should be free for motivated and capable students. You see, if the workforce has strong wages, social saftey nets, guaranteed retirement and don't have worry about what happens to them when they get sick; well this severly compromises the amount of leverage that an employer would have over his employees. It's important the media never allow these sorts of discussion enter the mainstream in any meaningful way.

The owners of the press are just a few very rich Zionists, who allow only the articles which either promote or have no effect on their agenda.
Operation Mocking Bird, run by the CIA, put 3000 operatives on to the editorial staff of the press to ensure that the real truth is never printed.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false."
-- William Casey, CIA Director (from first staff meeting, 1981)

I am sure that the UK has similar operations and policies.

Don't believe that it is possible to publicise the truth. Even this forum is censored, with sensitive questions being removed.

the press here is controled or censored to the truth you and i are reading a pack of lies for break-first or lunch.it's better if them who wanted the news's to be true in the paper's misread the lines and spill the beans with the truth.the press is controlled by the political mafia as they would be called by there hypocrites friend's there enemies in front of the cameras but behind the closed doors they are laughing at you and me.wake up.open your eye's.before you loose your sight for no good enough reason.if you print some thing that's true you can get sued for letting the cat out the bag.the truth comes out sooner or later.you cannot hide the truth from everyone OK,someone will sell you out for money.they are not your friends they are like betrayer's who stab you in your back whiles they are given you a comforting hug saying every things going to be alright honey don't worry about and then you go home feeling so relieved just to wake up and find out that you were sold out.allot that we read is so untrue.most of it is a pack of Lie's.

The press is as a free as it wants to be. Yes, from time to time they do have pressure exerted on them however it is essentially a free press. Thet can print what they like as long as they have the b****s to do so.

In UK press freedom is only inhibited by the lack of imagination of the editorial team. UK newspapers for example, are loud, rude and in yer face. Their only problem are the libel laws of UK. Otherwise the press is FREE to say what it wants and usually does.

"The only truth in newspapers is to be found in the advertising."
--Mark Twain.
