60s rock/pop- I like the big 3 Bs: The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Beatles. The Phil Spector girl groups were great too. Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson.
Any band of the last 20 years who nods towards the 60s and can really play: eg R.E.M., The La's, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Crowded House, Spin Doctors.
90s Britpop: Pulp, The Charlatans, Blur, Oasis, Supergrass, The Bluetones, The Divine Comedy.
Female singersongwriters- Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Alanis Morrissette.
Paul Weller.
U2 have done some great popular songs but I also like the ones no-one mentions such as 'If God will send his angels'.
If I am narrowed down to one genre , it is 60s-ish pop/rock music.

Rock and roll! the old stuff. the new stuff.
I love the Rolling Stones and I love Against Me. I listen to Men at Work and also Disturbed. I love it all. My fav right now is a new young band with no label that I found on myspace called Chrysalis. (they are from my hometown and I know some of the parents) kind of new indie punk. great stuff.

Personally I go for a lot of the synth and electronica stuff such as New Order, Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. I also love theMancunian indie scene, such as Joy Division, New Order and The Smiths. Brill.
