Hmmmmm, this is a situation I have come across many times, not only with dancers being the subject ridiculed, but sports people, smart people, the list goes on.
I can only tell you what I would tell my kids. You will usually find these people have something missing in their lives and by taking their pain out on other people, it makes them feel better.
This does not by any stretch of the imagination make it right though. On the contrary, it is very wrong.
Is there anyway you could find out a llittle about this person and maybe find out what they like, or what they do when not at school??? I am just thinking that you could perhaps mention something to them about something they like. For example, if you find out they like riding a push bike, you could remark on a sunny day, what a lovely day it looks like to go for a ride, or maybe, gees I hope all of the people out there riding their bikes have a hat and sunscreen on. Then, just leave it at that. Don't take it any further. Of course, that is if the teacher doesn't. If you find they want to enter into a conversation, go for it.
I have found that with most nasty people like this one, there is usually something behind the scene making them the way they are, and all they need is for someone to take the time to get to know them.
Now, having said all that, they could very well just be a nasty piece of work and not worthy of your time and effort at all. But, if you don't try you will never know!!!!!!! Imagine if we all sat back when someone was nasty, no-one would ever talk to each other!!! lol
I hope things turn out well for you and her narky little comments stop.
Cheers.
Helen :-)

Maybe dancers make her feel inept because she doesn't have the body and looks to do something like that? Most women don't, but it's not usually a problem.
