First, I think only cities have populations over 100,000. The word "town" is reserved for smaller places, even though the place may have "town" in its name.
Second, are we talking current cities, or all the cities of antiquity?
Third, are we talking American cities, or all the cities of the world?
Fourth, are we assuming there ARE NOT other heavily populated planets in far away galaxies because the universe is a big place?
Finally, I think we should reconsider #4. The universe is a really, really big place and the aliens may not appreciate it if we continue to not include them in these types of questions.

The U.S.Census estimates--actually lists-- 258 American Cities with populations over 100,000. these are 2005 numbers though... See the link below:

There are approximately 20 British cities over 100,000 see new link, but we still shouldn't tick off those aliens.

depends which country you are in - anyway if you google it yourself you would have done your homework and gained some knowledge in the meantime. Else we could do it for you and your teachers efforts would be wasted
