These shells came from the bahamas and are hanging shells.

Soak them in your sink with liguid dish washing soap and then scrub them gently with a small kitchen brush. Let air dry or day them with a paper tower. They will look clean as new.

If they're already preserved, how are they preserved? If it's with a clear lacquer, such as nail polish, then they should just wash in soap [not detergent] and water - or scrub them with a little salt. If they're not already preserved, just scrub them with salt, rinse them and then apply a lacquer.
