yeah, earn your own money, and then show that you are responsible enough to take care of whatever it is that you think you need to have, tell her that you know that it is a fad, but all your gf's hve it, and youdont want to be different.

Say "But Mom, I WANT it." Then tell her that you'll NEVER ask for anything else. And say that it can be a Christmas gift or your next Birthday gift, knowing full well that they'll have forgotten that you ever promised this by the time Christmas or your Birthday rolls around (assuming your birthday isn't any time soon).

Depending on what it is and if it does not impact the people living with you I suggest you tell her you'll earn the money to buy it. Of course it's still her house, her electricity, heat, etc., so if she stills says no - that's the breaks.
