Hmmm locks up your computer? I wouldn't know why it does that. Since Internet Explorer 7 probably overwritten your previous installation of Internet Explorer, you might not be able to get it back.
I would recommend browsers like Mozilla Firefox ( http://www.firefox.web.com/index3.html ), free and pretty good!

I use IE 7 with no problems. Check your system requirements to see if it is compatible.
Uninstall the same way you would any program and IE will revert to the previous version.
If you meet system requirements, after uninstalling, reinstall IE 7 and see if the problem persists. If it does report it to Microsoft, as IE 7 is a Beta Version.
