The betta my friend gave me was definately abused. The water was so murky that you couldn't see the fish! The water smelled like *beep* and the fish was sick! They overfed it. You know that you are only supposed to feed a betta 2-4 pellets of... pellet food daily? She fed the poor thing 16! This is sickening.

CAN SOMEONE STAND UP FOR FISH ABUSE!!?? THIS IS WRONG! WHO'S WITH ME?????? Tell me a story of abused fish, I'd like to know some more. BUT WHO AGREES THAT IF YOU GET A FISH, YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT??? AND THEY HAD THAT FISH IN DISTILLED WATER!!! DISTILLED??? UGH!!!!!! WHO AGREES ABOUT FISH *NOT* BEING ABUSED??? PEOPLE ARE SOOOOO STUPID THESE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry, the fish is okay now. I changed the water and cleaned the tank. I am planning to get a bigger tank for him and set it next to my little five-gallon.

I remember last year i went to a fun fair and some teenage kid had won a goldfish on a stall. He then took this fish on one of the most fastest rides in the fair which also turned upside down. The man operating the ride offered to take the fish off him until the ride was over but the kid wouldnt hand it over. When the ride finally stopped, the kid came off laughing and holding the bag up to show his mates. Water was seeping out of the corners and the fish was head down, tail up in the bag. It was obvioulsy in deep distress and dying. I went on to the boy and offered him £20 to take this poor fish off him as i knew he would torture it even more but he refused to hand it over to me. After calling him all the b@astrds going, i walked away shaking, shocked and cried for days after. It still haunts me to this day. BAN FISH FROM FUN FAIRS!!!!

Well, I agree that they overfed the fish and that's what made the water murky, but betta fish are supposed to be in either distilled or dechlorinated water so don't freak out about that part. I hate it when people think that fish have no feelings and therefore don't care, so they just let the water go like that. There's a myth that bettas like to be in murky water but honestly, I don't believe it. The murkier the water, the less oxygen is dissolved in it for the fish to breathe. At least a third of the water should have been changed once a week. I have had many fish and all of them have lived for quite a long time, fishwise. Right now I just have one betta, and when I got her, the container actually had the instructions right there on it. Many people think that they don't need to read the instructions and that if they feed the fish more, it will grow bigger. I hate people like that. Take care of your fish, and it will live a longer and happier life than it would have had with your friend.

I went into a local decorating store the other day. It is a large chain. They had a fish bowl in one of the displays. If I had to guess it was probably 1 gallon maybe 2. It was divided in half so it was book ends. Cute right? Yah- they had 4 goldfish in there.

I went to one of the clerks and told her that I knew I sounded crazy BUT- that was completely inappropriate. The only fish that should be kept like that was MAYBE a betta. But living creatures are not decorations- they should not be displayed as such. Throw some silk flowers in them.

She definitely thought I was crazy. I should go check on them.

I'm with you. I love having fish. Changing the water every week is a pain, but a job that has to be done.
I had a betta. He lived for over a year. Right now I have two baby platties.

If you get any kind of pet, fish or anything else, you should be able to adequately take care of it. I've always thought that pet stores and animal shelters should give an exam on how to care for that particular pet. If you don't pass, you don't get the pet. That poor fish your friend had was obviously in distress. Good thing she gave it to someone who cares as much as you do!

I had a carnie fish (one I won at the local carnival). After awhile I discovered I could not take care of him the way that he should be. So I gave him to my cousins (who wanted a pet). They love him and take very good care of him now. I think if you can not take care of a pet you should try and find a good home for them. This goes for any pet, even a fish. Fish are Friends! (not food!)

I've seen kids at a carnival play the games to get fish in bags as prizes. They would take great joy in torturing the poor things as much as possible, including stamping, squeezing, poking, and throwing them at any opportunity.

I've had my current fish for the past seven years and he's like a friend to me. It's tragic how a life can be seen as "disposeable" as long as it is small enough to put in a ziplock bag.

I have a betta I've had it now for nearly 7 months. I generally every 2-4 days dash his food in his water. He has lived off the food this long and growing. my parents had a betta they kept for nearly as long that lived in disstilled water.
Thah's what thay were told to use

For the sake of my argument, we could assume you had a stable mom (i'm sorry, yet i don't comprehend your mom), If a mom loves her newborn, does she make rules wherein there are outcomes? yet, nevertheless, in this life, you decide directly to do as you have been created to be (stable or of God) or you decide directly to persist with the lies of devil. God does not deliver you to Hell, it rather is all your decision and your duty to comprehend the certainty. God has set all of it around you interior the creation and in His be conscious.
