I'm writing a presentation on marital rape, and i'm arguing that it shouldn't be a punishable offense (although i feel totally opposite). My three points is the definition of rape, the wedding vows, and a bible verse. HELPPPPPPP!!!!!

.
In my opinion, it should not be punishable...for, its an obligation to give in to your spouse's desire...If its a worse thing to have sex at times your not feeling for it ..then you have no choice but offer yourself.
In your marriage vow, it is for better or for worse---

It could be a ground for divorce...but not punishable!

I think if a woman says no that is her right and married or not her feelings should be heard. No means No...no matter what! There are cases of marital rape and it should be punishable by law. Remember rape is about the power & control over another person,,,not about the sex.

You have a tough argument to present. I wish you luck. If I was arguing against you I would take the sexual part out of rape and define it as assault and battery - which is exactly what it is.
Then you would have a problem because you would have to justify permissible reasons for assault and battery in a marriage: and there are none
The only way to do this is invent a very narrow definition and hell or high water stick to it. Call it a non-consensual, non -violent, non -contested sexual encounter. Nobody will believe you but the points are given for presenting a good argument.

wow i wish my husband would rape me lol.. ok but seriously..

Like u obviously found in the bible ur not suppose to deny ur spouse sex.. so there shouldnt be a reason for marital rape in the first place.. should always be concentual..

Marriage vows.. say to love honor and respect.. so none of those would be a reason to rape because rape has nothing to do with any of those..

Rape is usually a he said she said situation.. although I DO NOT AGREE WITH RAPE OF ANY SORT either.. u could argue that it could of been a husband and wife.. spicing things up in the bedroom , but then got out of hand then the wife decided she didnt like it got angry afterwards and basically at that point the evidence would show it as a real rape.. if she had marks on her wrists from being willfully tied up..

There was a story where i once lived.. husband and wife were having problems in their marriage.. on and off again.. during one of their better moments they did just that, they spiced things up.. did the whole tie to the bed scenerio.. ect ect.. basically actted out a rape scene .. all was fine.. next day they got into an arguement over something (nothing to do with what they did in bed the night before) and she got so angry with him she called the cops.. and told the cops he had raped her, showed marks on her wrist.. showed that the rope they used was still tied to the bed.. showed a bruise on her inner thigh (which found out later on was done 2 days prior) .. and they arrested him for rape.. he ended up doing 4 years in jail.. just for her to confess later down the road that she made it all up and was just mad at him..

Wow, you got stuck with a very tough view. Wish you luck. You could prbly look into some of the islamic religions. But, I believe the Bible would prbly be the way to go
I guess the best thing you could do is to remind your audience, that the groom is paying the father for the woman, and that she is property.

Wow you've picked a tough quesiton.

I guess i would argue on the definition of marriage being consent and this can only be broken by divorce. However you'll have a tough job making this stand up in this day and age.

I am not sure about every state but most of them have a rape statue that covers a man raping his wife. just because they are married....no still means no.. I have (when I was in law enforcement) arrested and took to court a man for doing this to his wife. she apparently didn't want to have sex with him and he had been drinking he held her down and forced himself on her and used "items" on her. found guilty don't remember the sentence he got.

Why would you right on something against your beliefs? Makes it alot more difficult. Yes it should be an offense. There isn't anything in the bible or else where that would change my mind on that.
