Speaking from observation only, I think that women who like submissive men are actually battling an internal war with society. Women have been the "weaker sex" since the time of written history. Women rebel in different ways. Some choose to prove themselves with a successful career. Others choose a dominant relationship. I have had friends who were in relationships like that, and it seemed to be that they were unhappy with their status pro, and the status of the relationship was a form of "play" to them. They move on to new men very quickly, never establishing an intimate bond.

My experience is limited, though. I have only known a couple of women like this, so I am no expert.
