Gargle with Listerine a lot to kill the germs. Drink a lot of fluids especially orange juice - it will feel good on your throat. If you're congested, rub Vicks on your chest. Hot chicken soup.

Hope you feel better soon. Stinks to be sick.

Some of the treatments I have tried (and they all work) is hot tea with some honey, or boil up some ginger root and drink the decoction from that. The ginger soothes the throat and the taste may be a bit too strong but other than that, you could stomach it. Don't put in sugar, though. Sugar just makes your throat feel parched, hence more of the itchiness that you feel when you have a sore throat. Or, you could have some nice, hot broth and herbal tea. Don't drink carbonated, sugary, or fatty foods as they only help to irritate. Plus, drink in some real fruit juice like orange because the vitamin C content helps in strengthening your immune system and fight off the bacteria in your throat causing you to have that sore throat in the first place.

I always find ginger mixed with honey to be very helpful. Just take a bit of ginger root and squeeze it in a clean garlic crusher to extract the juice. Mix it with a little bit of honey and then add boiled water. Hope this helps.

Caramel milk: you put 2 spoons of sugar on the heat and you must be by the stove so it does not get burnt. You add milk when the colour of sugar gets caramel and liquid. Drink in with help of a spoon a bit hot.

You can gargle with aspirin.

On the real side, I think you should go to the doctor. A bad sore throat is not a good sign.
