It's a group work and we have to come up at last with an outcome paper that has three recommendations chosen from 12 recommendations by each of the 4 group members. The three recommendations are gonna be empasised there. Well...that's about it. i just need to know the issues and recommendations. Detalied answers would really help.
Thanks

The population of a country is traditionally expressed as a pyramid. New-borns a the bottom being the largest and oldest people being at the top having smallest number. But in countries where people are not having large families and less children are being produced, the pyramid stops looking like a pyramid. An aging population can be seen by an inverted pyramid. When the number of people currently of working age out number children of a certain age, it will mean that when the people working retire, they will out number the people in work. The countries whole infra-structure will be affected. Especially so if the retired are on state pension, the nation needs to be able to afford to pay them. Emphasis now needs to be placed on the importance of having a private pension. Which can be difficult in times when several companies have "lost" pension funds. Retirement villages and sheltered accommodation could be considered where older people can still lead independent lives, but with the security that they can contact help easily if they need it and are not so isolated. Health services and public transport needs to be able to accommodate a larger number of retired people, the leisure industry could find itself short of clientele if they do not consider the needs of the older generations as less younger people are produced.

There is a good website called "CIA World Factbook" that has statistics on the "Age Structure" of every country. The age structure is basically shown as the % of the people who are 14 years of age and younger, and the % of the people who are 65 and older. If you compare some countries like Japan, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Scotland, vs some countries like Chad, Mexico, India, Congo you will see a huge difference....

Have fun writing your project!

First of all go to your nation's governmental site to find out about age & population. Population pyramid projections will show you how the percentage of the age demographics will change and what the challenges will be.
