A lot depends on you, and the policy at the maternity department at your local hospital.
A lot of women who have had previous caesarian sections are able to have a normal vaginal delivery later. You need to discuss this with your midwife, or obstetrician, or ideally with both. They would probably suggest that you have a trial labour, whereby you labour as normal, but everything is prepared too for an emergency caesarian section. By that, I mean that you would be in a delivery ward, and not at home, and the obstetric theatre would be prepped ready should you need an immediate section.

I've had two vaginal births ( one a total breach birth) and one C-section. At that time I asked if, in the event I ever got pregnant again would I have to have another C-section.....and the answer I got was "no". It is possible for a woman to deliver vaginally after having a C-section before.

They move the goalposts all the time with things like this but my friend had a c-section followed by a natural birth 20 months later

Depends why they gave you a caesarean in the first place.Maybe you have a small pelvis and the baby can't engage. If that's the reason then you do have to have one. Otherwise no reason you shouldn't have a natural delivery..doesn't always follow one caesarean always a c section however sometimes doctors prefer it cos its easier for them.

Not anymore no...they will let you have a natural birth after a c section these days as long as it was a normal c section you had
