The reason someone would put a ring on a chain, is usually that the ring does not fit for some reason or another. It is bad for the ring to put it on a chain, as the weight of the stone or top of the ring is too heavy, and can change the shape of the ring, which may not be able to be repaired. You might consider opting for a bracelet as an exchange or going steady thing.

well what i know is that it means that the ring is dear to u like the person who gave u the ring.and u put it on a necklace to make it close to u.near to ur heart beats.

maybe to keep it close to ur heart as my ex said to me...he used to wear it on his pinky but it annoyed him so he put in on his necklace. he still wears it

dont think it is besides due to convinence at work.
ring whether its an engagement, wedding or friendship is just symbolic.
its the personal commitment at heart that really matters.
they can be put to show and removed to hide . . .

it usually means that your fingers are too fat/thin or you cant wear it on your hands (usually for work related reasons) plsu some ppl think it looks COOL!
