Well, the money issue aside, it really would be nice to know who the best answerers are on YA.
I don't think the determining factor should be number of points because many who have large point scores have given superficial answers.
The percentage of best answers might be a factor in determining the expertise of the answerer, but again this is not completely reliable as I know many times people select wrong answers as best answers.
Perhaps you might survey each forum and ask for the names of those who are considered by others to provide the most accurate and thoughtful answers. This would help you narrow the field a bit. Then you might look at each of these individuals answers and best answer percentages to further refine your search.
Possibly you might recruit a volunteer committee to help you make the final selection.
Maybe you could sell YA on this idea and those who are finalists in each category might earn a little star to be displayed by their name to signify that their answers meet a high standard of logic, accuracy and reliability.
I think that something like this might elevate the standards in YA so that it might at some point become a reliable knowledge base.

I doubt there is an easy way to determine that. The smartest in any category or overall? Everyone has specific interests that they indulge much more time and energy into understanding at the expense of developing knowledge in other areas. He/she would possess the ability to reason within the realms of that area but possibly lack that ability otherwise.
Then the question begs to be asked, "Why do you wish to give money to the smartest person?" Do you have something in mind for him/her to do with the money that will benefit yourself? Or possibly benefit the world?
I wish you luck!

Since I don't know the purpose of your search, I cannot give accurate guildelines for finding the "smartest:" person, and leaderboards do not accurately reflect reasoning sometimes--they often reiterate what a person wants to believe or are subjective (i.e. best cookie recipe, favorite movie). You'll probably have to draft a representative sample of questions that illustrate what you consider to be superior reasoning ability and post them over a long enough period of time to evalute. (keeping in mind that your evaluation may also be subjective....). The best way would be a question with a link to your specific "test." Make it available on a regular basis during a variety of hours to reach the maximum number of people interested in "competing." Good luck! I'd like to participate, so I hope I catch your posting!

It takes a lot of work and research to design an IQ test to tell how smart a person is.
I wonder if your saying that you want someone who is "gifted in their ability to reason" so you can "give them a LOT of money," is a disguised way of playing on the egos of people on Answers so you can toy with them. I
do not know of any way to directly contact a person on Answers, unless they provide their email address in an answer, so it would be difficult to defraud them. But your question sounds suspiciously like some emails where an expensive gift/money is held out for enticement to get bank acct numbers, etc, to defraud people.

Good Q
But it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
You would first have to find the criteria that would define the smartest person.
Maybe develop a set of Q's that would help weed out the weenies.
There would be the problem of targeting the Q's to the correct Answerer's.
I think it a insurmountable task
