Maybe I was one of the lucky ones, I didn't have cravings for a long time after giving up. And now I don't get them at all.
If you are taking nicorettes or some other means of weaning yourself off the cigarettes, these could keep the nicotine in your system and prolong the cravings. - Careful those drug companies are not necessarily looking after your best interests!!!
I haven't had a cigarette since 23 August 2002. I was so proud of myself, that's why I remember the date.
The craving is a wave, it will go quicker than you think. Remember it's just a wave, it comes and goes. Good luck and I hope you succeed forever.

Hey thats fantastic! Go visit a cancer ward as a volunteer for a couple of days, this will make those cravings disappear pretty quick i found by saying to myself every time I wanted a cigarette "I have gone one day, I can do another". It is all about teaching the brain how not to want those cravings. Also I watched my 76yr old Pop choke on his own blood as his tumour in his lung took over his entire body. He died 3yrs ago on the 16th of sept. I promised myself i would never put my family through it again especially my 3yr old daughter at the time. As said when people commit sucide it's not them they are hurting it's the people they leave behind thats what smoking is slow painful suicide . sorry for the gruesome details but hey you have come this far keep going everyday is a new one and you have made the most crucial step and thats deciding to Stop Smoking proud !!! You have my support

Well done for stopping smoking!
I have been stopped for 1 and a half years now and I still get a slight craving every now and then depending on what situation I am in or whether I am stressed or not.
I don't think the cravings ever fully go away but you should notice them less and less over time. It is down to you and how much willpower you have, stick with it and distract yourself (but not with food), get an active hobby, and this should help.

They will go away in a few days. I used a mantra everytime I had the urge, "I'm a non-smoker, I'm a non-smoker, I'm a non-smoker" repeated over and over until the urge went away. I haven't smoked for almost 20 years, but I still to this day get in to situations where that little nicotine devil pops up and says 'a cigarette would be good right now'. But it's easy just to laugh and say that was strange. Congratulations, by the way. It's tough to do but worth it. I can get dressed without wheezing, I don't smell like a wet ashtray anymore, and think of all the money you are going to save! Not just the cost for cigarettes, but your car insurance will go down, no more burns in clothing or furniture. You can do this, I have faith in you.

Through force of (medical) circumstances I had to give up smoking 13 years ago - still have slight cravings even now - so yes cravings last many years - its now a fight between your cravings and your will-power which one will triumph - only you have the answer to that

The cravings should be 99% gone after 30 days, but each time you have a cigarette it's another 30 days till they subside
Keep going and don't crack and have one - it's just four quick weeks for a lifetime of freedom!
Good luck

I can't personally, I don't have the will power you do! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Keep up the good work. All I know is my mom quit several years ago and now and then she still has to chew "the gum" because she gets the urge for a smoke. Especially if she is around people whom are smoking. The best of luck to you.
