I agree with Silent S, it is difficult to come up with a third candidate. At this point, it is a two person race. So here are my three:
1. Ryan Howard (first full season as a regular.... amazing)
2. Albert Pujols (Imagine what his numbers could have been had he not gotten hurt during the first half of the season.... yet his numbers are still awesome!!!)
3. Alfonso Soriano (Again, tough to pick a third candidate, but, new team, new position, and still an offensive machine.... would love to see him wearing Red Sox colors!!!!!)

1. Ryan Howard
2. Albert Pujols
3. Carlos Beltran

Howard is having an amazing season, his case will be even more strengthened if the Phillies get the Wild Card, Pujols is putting up great numbers as well and he missed how many weeks with the strained oblique? Beltran is having a great season (at the plate and in the field) for the NL's most dominating team. It was tough to leave Alfonso Soriano out of this mix considering he's in line to become only the 4th man to have a 40-40 season, and he's in line to get around 100 RBI in a rather light line up.

Ryan Howard has vaulted to top of pack as his numbers have become mind boggling. I would put Beltran and Pujols just behind but I think Ryan Howard deserves to be 2006 NL MVP.

2.) Pujols - Missed a month and still keeping up with Howard.
3.) Soriano - 40+ HR's and 30+ SB's...awesome!

Hopefully MLB won't be morons and give it to Bonds, who's been scorching lately, if the Giants sneak in as the wildcard ....
