Well, I'm going to be a single mom now. I have a job, and my boyfriend is leaving me tomorrow. We decided it was for the best. But I'm scared to death. i don't make alot of money, how am I going to do everything? Can I get some help with assistance? I make like 800 a month. I have a babysitter, and it's my sister, so I won't have childcare expenses or anything like that. She isn't going to charge me. What are the first steps to being a single mother?

Ive been a single mother since the day my daughter was born, 5 years now. You have to be a strong female!! You can apply for assistance however depending on the state and so forth you may not get much. I unfortunately was ineligible for anything even though I make very little money. I did file for child support however I have a deadbeat that refuses to work or pay. He isn't is my daughter's life at all and I think it is the best for her. I am currently in nursing school in hopes to one day be able to provide sufficiently for her. As for now I appreciate the help I get from my parents. Best of luck to you and your little one!!!

i was a single dad for eight years also before i remarried...

sounds like you need to get a higher paying job and start collecting child support (but don't count on it).

your biggest problem being daycare is handled. you just need to worry about making rent, utilities, groceries and transportation. after that you just have entertainment. find a nice park nearby.

try to make it on your own. do not rely on the help of a new boyfriend otherwise you will have a hard time finding a guy for the right reasons.

Tomorrow or Tuesday, file for child support with the child support office in the county. It takes time before the case is heard, so it is important to start ASAP! In some cases, it can take months depending on the case backload with the county system.

You should be able to get some child support from this boyfriend, whether he likes it or not. If it is his child he is still held responsible!!! So, once he leaves your door make sure that you have his address that he is going to and get yourself a lawyer and go from there.
