How many of them couldn't read? So many teachers these days think it is more important to indoctrinate their pupils with liberal mantra rather than to teach them the three R's that it is no surprise that the kids have no clue who does what on the world stage. The elite media just picks up where their teachers leave off.

It's ok to tell your class that Bush engineered 9/11, but if you like Bush and put a photo of the President on the class bulletin board, you get fired.

What is the source of this poll? Are you saying that not a single 18year old Democrat could not identify their govenor? Or either of their senators? Cmon man.

Whats really scary is that there are no good candidates at all, from either party.
Each and everyone has some kind of agenda to get more money and power.
And in answer to your question think about it like this.
They keep lowering the standards for education and push media related issues. Not making kids learn from books where they can research what past and present political figures are doing and have done.

But most 18yr old Americans are more interrested in celebrity news, fashion, and partying. American's live a very care-free lifestyle which precipitates down to the younger generation in the form of ignorance.

But I am somewhat of a hypocrite. I am Canadian and I am pretty ignorant about my own country's government. But Canadian politics is frickin boring! I would definitely say I know more US political figures and policies than I do of my own country.

So, its sad on both sides of the border I suppose.

Vote Gore!

Nope...but that is scary that voters do not have enough intelligence and information to have balanced, informed opinions...

I guess the USA voting population's level of stupid is rising...not a good development...

Why should we know about Democrats or Republicans? Both parties are full of crap and need to be voted out of *ALL* offices.

this is the trend of young Americans, they are swayed by the glitzof television and actually believe the garbage on television without studing the actual events with this type of thinking we will fight the next campaign in our own streets War is hell anywhere but maybe they will wake up to the fact if they have to carry a gun everytime they walk out the door of their house -----Fools can be swayed to anything ,they are proving it today
