The other day my rat trap caught just a rats tail and today I killed a rat that had a damaged tail but looked as if part of it was regrowing a bit. I want to confirm that the rat I killed today is the same rat I missed a couple days ago. The tail went from fat and dmaged to a little thin tail about a 1/4" long. Thanks for your help!

No, tails can not "grow" back....a damaged tail may appear different, but will not grow. So...Different rat. Set another trap.

No, they can't regrow their tails, but if there was a bit of tail left with bone some skin, it may have started to regrow more skin.... therefore leaving a skinny and scarred smaller bit of tail that could look like it was regrowing.
