Accounts is a very wide subject. Generally it refers to the movement of funds for a company.

To know where your money flows to and from, you set up a chart of accounts to keep track of the flow of funds. There will be revenue accounts and expense accounts. There will also be asset accounts to keep track of the balance sheet.
