my son used to be scared of needles, like any other kid. when he needed an injection, we taught him to look away from it ; to take a deep breath and relax. finally, at age 8, he outgrew his fears.
im also scared of needles-- gives me goosebumps when i go for laboratory testing. outgrowing the "panic" didn't make me stop being scared because by nature, we all stay away from anything that hurts us. so i take a deep breath, close my eyes, relax and just bravely ride the situation.
one way you might try is to get a stack of pins with heads and sort of play with them with your fingers, twirling each until you feel comfortable with them-- a saturation technique. do art works that require the use of such pins so you can associate them with something beautiful. at the end of each session, record how many times you got hurt playing with pins. if at the end of a one-week period nothing happens to you, then you might find the pins friendlier-looking next time you encounter them outside the comforts of your test area.

Knowledge.
If it is necessary, then a medical professional can explain why. Then drink much booze.. Just kidding,,
Don't focus on it. Try two things separately;
1) Relax the area of insertion and don't look. Think of something pleasant(Mate, sports).
2) Relax the area and watch their every move, but with the understanding that the only feeling will be a PINCH feeling. After that pinch will be a very short wait where you remain motionless.
AGAIN, THIS IS JUST A PINCH FEELING... and the WORST is over, over, over, gone.
Good luck,
Brian
P. S. I still don't like them, but (sometimes) a necessary task in life

be curious about them. they hurt some people, but not others. they shouldn't really hurt that much because they are so thin. when i was a kid and went through a line of mass innoculations, kids were fainting right and left of me. i was scared, and just kept watching them, and was afraid of when my turn came up. a nurse said to me, okay, you can go, and i turned and looked at her. she said, you are finished. i couldn't believe that i did not feel the shot, and wondered what the big deal was. it made me curious. every time after that i made sure i watched them give me a shot so i could be sure that it did not really hurt that much. i realised it was psychological, because it really did not hurt that much, yet happened. it's the anticipation. for you, i would say, occupy your mind with something else, and look away.

Don't watch. Look away while getting the injection. Focus on something across the room, I mean really focus on it. That helps me....I hate them too.

It's okay to be scared. Just turn your head the other way or close your eyes.
