if you are any way concerned then speak to your health visitor. Your boobs due shrink a bit when you are producing the right amount for your baby. have you tried expressing and seeing if baby takes the expressed milk. expressing should help you see how much milk you are producing (but is not a sure fire way as some mums are unable to express but have a great supply). if your baby is eating the expressed milk and seems hungry for it then there may be issues with how he is latching on. Best thing to do is speak to NCT breastfeeding counsellor or your midwife. If baby is putting on weight fine then it is unlikely to be your milk supply

Well, I believe you will have an appointment for your baby in the next week or two. Pediatricians usually want to see the baby once a month at first, and if you baby is 7 weeks, then he is due for an appointment. There could be lots of reasons why your baby is crying. If you think he may not be getting enough food, then make an appointment and talk to the doctor about it. But a lot of times, babies can have colic. Mine did. Basically it is inconsolable crying that lasts 3 or more hours a day at a time. It is normal and usually after the baby is 3 months it will go away. You might want to ask your doctor about that. Always call the doc if you feel in any way your baby is having a hard time with something.

If your babe seems hungry, and wants to nurse all the time, then it sounds like a growth spurt! It'd be pretty normal for that age.
Nurse, nurse, nurse him as much as he wants; it's his way of ramping up your supply.
As for your breasts not feeling full, that's *totally* normal for this stage of breastfeeding. It's just your body's way of figuring out how much milk your baby actually needs. You don't have to put up with leaky boobs or firehose letdown for most of your nursing time; just the early days. :) As long as he is growing and has enough wet diapers, you're getting him enough milk- don't worry!
Unless your baby seems unwell or dehydrated, don't bother making a doctor's appointment- especially because most doctors don't know much about breastfeeding, and will give you bad advice.
Check out the links below for some info on growth spurts (so you can see if that really describes your situation), the breast-fullness thing, and how to make sure your baby's getting enough. There's also a link to La Leche League's bulletin board, where you can ask LLL leaders for advice- which is awesome!
It's also possible that your babe is just fussy; 7 weeks is a right age for babies to just be upset alot. My girl cried all the time in the evenings at that age, and there was nothing wrong with her.
Anyway, hopefully, this info will put your fears about feeding to rest! Good luck, and congratulations on the new little nursling. :D

If you are worried that your son may not be getting enough milk, breastfeed more often. The more milk your body thinks it needs, the more it will produce so try expressing between breastfeeds to increase your supply. He could be having a growth spurt, or, is he teething?
If you feel that you need to make a doctors appointment, then do it, or does your health visitor have an open clinic that you could go to? This may help to put your mind at rest. I found that was helpful for me when I was worried about my daughter.
Follow your instincts, and do whatever you feel you need to do.
I hope that everything is okay for you and your family, both now and in the future

Sounds like your little one may be going thru a growth spurt and wants to eat more. The more you nurse, the more you will produce. Are you eating anything spicy in your diet? Caffeine? Collic sometimes shows up around this tender age. I would get a phone consult with the pediatrician if things don't smooth out after a few days. Even though these can be trying times, enjoy them. They grow up so quickly

My daughter did the same thing the doctor told me that I needed to nurse her more often. I nursed her about every 45 min. I gave her gas drops often too. At 6 weeks babeis go through a growth spurt. That could be why he is whining. Best of luck

For sure go see your Dr. It sounds like he's not getting enough to eat and you being able to tell a difference in your breasts is a big sign that something is going on. I assume this is your first child. Alot of mothers just can't produce the milk needed as their baby grows. You need to get to your Dr. and his DR. so you can find a formula that he will accept.

An old remedy to keep from drying up.... chicken soup the broth mostly.... lots of it. If its not that, the best thing to do is make an appointment with your doctor.... but my son started whining at about that age to, and he still does, its just part of who he is, a complainer.... lol

I breast fed for a while and my baby was crying. Come to find out in my case he wasn't getting enough to eat, he was 10 pounds when he was born.He was hungry. The bigger they get the more they want to eat. So I started out giving him a regular bottle once or twice a day. Call your doctors office and ask them. They should be able to answer your questions there, maybe even without going in. Good Luck.

Sound like your little one is having a growth spurt. They need feeding more as they are trying to increase the milk you make. I know it;s hard going but the best thing to do is just fed baby when s/he needs it and you will be fine.
I have breastfed 3 babies my youngest was boobie fed until she was a year old.
If you need more help feel free to e-mail me.
