I'm planning a holiday for my wife and I. I've been in the UK for about 10 weeks now and she won't be joining me for another 10 weeks. I want to take her on a holiday in mid january and heard prague is really nice then. Want to make this a special as possible, any help appreciated.

I took my partner to Pension U Tri Houslicek (three violins) for NYE 2004 and we both loved it! It's so close to the Prague Castle and about 4 mins from the Charles Bridge. Being on the west side of the river, you get less noise, less drunk Brits and more genuine and low cost restaurants/bars. And the apartment itself is on one of the walking tours because of it's history as a home for violin-makers. If you see a group of 30-odd tourists taking 100's of photos of the building, give them a wave from me.

We've stayed there 3 times in the last 18 months, and I'll always try to book it on any future visit.

Check out the link and enjoy.

Top Hotel Praha. I stayed there with a group of lads.It was absolutely amazing. Not something we were too bothered about or expecting for a lads weekend of debaucherey, but what was good about the hotel is that it was hosting the Miss Czech contest at the time. We were pleased to say the least. It was very elegant to say the least. Its only a taxi ride to the centre of Prague too. check it out on http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274707-d276644-Reviews-TOP_Hotel_Praha-Prague_Bohemia.html

Most major hotels if you pay locally. advanced bookings are a big rip-off. Beautiful city and cheap if you learn the local bargaining..
