For what it does then i would say yes it is worth the money, but all new things when they first come out cost more, just look at the DVD player, they were three hundred bucks when they first came out, and now they are cheap. The same is true with the PS3, it will be 600 bucks now and in two to three years it will come down maybe 100 to 150 bucks. If you have a nice bankroll then it won't hurt, but if you are counting ever nickle then it might hurt. I do think that it is worth the money seeing what it can do, and it will also make the PS2 null and void when it comes out.

no, when the ps2 came out it wasnt anywhere near the launch price of the ps3...and honestly,your a moron if you do pay 600 bucks for it,you can get the 360 for 100 bucks less and the Wii isnt going to be above 250

Tough call to make until it actually comes out. I think it will take a year or so of game development and support to make the PS3 worth the price, but I guess it depends on how much you use it. I don't spend enough time playing to make it worth the entry fee right now. After a while the price will come down.
