The Japanese villager Sakini in movie "The Teahouse of the August Moon" was played by Marlon Brando.His role was a challenge for his method acting techniques. He spent two months studying local culture, speech and gestures for this role.
The Teahouse of the August Moon is a 1956 motion picture comedy satirising the U.S. occupation of Japan following the end of World War II. John Patrick adapted the screenplay from his own Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning Broadway play of 1953.

I believe it was Marlon Brando. As I recall, he looked a little funky in that kimono, I should say yukata. I think Glenn ford was in the movie too.
