Any insurers you can recommend for self-employment income protection? And as it is self employed work...how do they work out what they will pay you back?

If I am ill at present...I get zilch. I am prepared to pay a high premium. How many month sdo you need to pay into the scheme to get protected.

Are there other protection policies to cover you not being able to find work?

You need a life policy and include in this insurance cover for an income when you are ill/ become disabled or critically ill. You can check out this on one of the websites which do the legwork for you by approaching several major Insurers.

You sure can. I would talk with your insurance broker about coverage plans. Depending on the requested coverage the insurance company may want to see your books for the past 3 years but most likely will not unless you put in for a substantial (read 'long term') claim.

Your insurance broker is the best one to see because they may be able to tie it to your current business coverage and get a lower rate...

There will be a waiting period that you wouldn't be covered beyond a return of your paid premiums which may be up to 2 years (likely less).

Being self employed is a bust if you need any type of insurance. Your best bet is a: marry a woman that can cover you on her insurance or b: just quit and live off the state

Most of the major insurers offer critical/long term illness cover but you can't claim for the first three months or so.......Its quite expensive too but I suppose its better to have something coming in if you are ill.........

Yes , it's called permanent health insurance and it is rated according to how risky your occupation is and how old you are.
