All my colleagues wearing polo shirts tuck them in. Is it not appropriate to let it hang loose over my pants?

tucked-in shirts look neater and more professional

Tucked in is correct. To leave the shirt hanging looks sloppy and casual. Such shirts are designed to be tucked in so as not to show the seams or any loose bits of cotton hanging down.

Tucked in shirts look neater if you are on the slimmer side, however if you have a bit of a belly, Polos look better hanging loose. If you choose to have it hang loose, it looks neater if the shirt is not too wide and baggy though.

I tuck in all my shirts. But I have found that works best with my body type. In a profesional situation, it is best to tuck in, it looks more kept, but personaly it is your choice.

I think they look better untucked. As long as they fit well and aren't big and baggy I think it's fine to wear untucked at work.

If you have a large belly...you don't have to tuck. You'll only appear fat!
