Your children are 10, they know there is no Santa but for now they choose to not admit they know. They are trying to remain children for just a little while longer. Let them and enjoy this Christmas it will most likely be the last with Santa. By the time they are 11 it won't be cool with them anymore. Enjoy. Mom of 2 Grandma of 6.

I think letting them figure it out on their own would be the best course here. Myself and my cousins/relatives "found out" by simply growing up.
Santa is a magical thing to children who believe in him, and to tell them too early would just dissappoint.
My parents "evolved" the idea of Santa as I grew. First he was an actual person who delivered presents. As I grew and I realized nothing about the Santa story was possible, they essentialy told me Santa was more of an idea rather than a tangible being. He's sort of the spirit of giving during Christmas.
So I say let them believe as long as they want to, but when the time comes and they start questioning it, tell them the truth.

Santa Clause isn't really a person he is a bit like religion a belief in that good things can and will happen if you really want them too so no matter what their age even for you wouldn't it be nice on Christmas day to receive a gift from the heart that you did not expect from someone you didn't know.

That is a very good question .. my son will be 9 years old, sometimes I wonder if he really believes in Santa. Needless to say you can only run into so many Santa Look A Likes and wonder - we had one that worked @ Walmart in the meat dept. who always went around to the kids saying Ho Ho Ho .. in addition kids talk and you know by now they have been told Santa does exisit. You will know based on your childrens and when you feel comfortable enough to tel them. I have to tell you @ my son's age I pretended to believe just because I thought that is how I got more gifts.
Hugs from a Loving Mom to a Brilliant, as well as beautiful 8 year old Jared and Our Angel, Zachary (taken to soon but who will always remain in our heart) ~ Mel

Get the movie Polar Express. Watch it with them and tell them it's the world of magical fantasies and tell them you believe in the spirit of santa. Go into detail about the love behind "santa". And how it is a tradition passed down to you by your parents. Answer all questions honestly but expain to them that it's all part of staying "young at heart".

When you go for Christmas shopping at the mall, find the mall's 'Santa Claus' guy and pull that fake beard in front of your kids. That would be embarrassing truth, for you and that innocent 'Santa Claus'.

When I asked my Dad about Santa Clause( i was about 10) he didn't tell me there was no Santa Clause- what he did tell me was that my presents came from someone who loved me very much. He told me I would hear all kinds of things about Santa, but to remember I was loved very much. I accepted that as a child.
